Applications of Distillery Grains

Feed Additive.
Chemically, distillery grains can be classified as grain concentrates with an energy content of 248 kcal of metabolizable energy, so they are often used not only as an additive but also as animal feed.
Fertilizer.

On a dry matter basis, it contains:
- protein,
- fat,
- fiber,
- substances and trace elements: calcium, phosphorus, amino acids,
- vitamins A, D, E, B-group vitamins,
- folic acid, biotin, carotenoids,
- macro elements - calcium, phosphorus, nitrogen and trace elements: iron, zinc, manganese, copper.

The solid fraction of processed distillery grains can be used as fertilizer to strengthen plant roots and promote better growth. Additionally, it serves as protection against weeds and pests.

Thus, both solid and liquid substrates can be used as a protective layer against pests for better plant growth or as a feed additive rich in iron, calcium, and zinc.
